Gay Greece

Gay Mykonos

The Mediterranean's gay island since the 1960s, and still the one everybody measures the others against.

Quick Resources

Mykonos, in short

The beaches

  • Elia: the island's longest beach; the far eastern end is the established gay stretch and largely nudist. Sunbeds, clear water, calmer crowd.
  • Super Paradise: the party one. Beach club that rolls from afternoon sunbeds straight into evening. Loud, mixed-gay, expensive.
  • Paradise: next door and often confused with it. This one is mainstream and young, not a gay beach.

Bars in Chora

  • Jackie O' Town Bar: just below the Paraportiani church. Two floors and a sea view terrace. The reliable first stop.
  • Porta: small, dark and busy once midnight passes. An institution.
  • Lola: cocktails, low-key, good for talking rather than shouting.
  • Cosma: central and relaxed, easy to fold into a bar crawl.

Late & later

  • Pierro's: open since the 1970s and still the last stop of the night.
  • At54: the newer dance club of the two, leaning disco, with a glossy crowd.

When to come

  • XLSIOR, 20 to 25 August 2026: Europe's biggest gay festival brings roughly 30,000 people to the island. Book flights, hotel and transfers months ahead.
  • June & September: the sweet spot. Warm sea, full nightlife, noticeably cheaper and calmer than August.
  • May & October: lovely and quiet, but bars run shorter hours and some beach clubs aren't open yet.

Everything above is walkable or a short transfer apart. Chora is small and the beaches are 15 to 20 minutes away by road.
